Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander filmed a new “Seinfeld” video today at “Monk’s”

While others were gossiping about the possibility that Larry David had written a potential Broadway play for Jerry Seinfeld on Showbiz411, the comedy911 bell was ringing today as Seinfeld and Jason Alexander (in full George Costanza attire and without his hairpiece that he affixes specifically to play anything but George these days) filmed video at Tom’s Restaurant, the Morningside Heights diner that provided the exteriors for Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer in the NBC sitcom, Seinfeld.

One thing may happen. “Maybe” was the operative word in Roger Friedman’s gossip item about Seinfeld’s participation in any capacity with David’s new play.

This thing is happening and did just happen.

Yes, it happened. Seinfeld reunion happened. Happening.

Seinfeld himself did reveal on Reddit last week that he and David, who co-created their mega-successful TV series, had undertaken a new project together, typing: “We wrote this script for this thing that you will eventually see but I can’t reveal what it is at this time. All I can do is tell you is that it’s big, huge, gigantic.”

This afternoon, my sources and others who work and live on the block around Broadway and West 112th Street witnessed film crews — and eventually Seinfeld and Alexander — visit the location used as an exterior but perhaps never before this as an interior for Seinfeld.

Ali Phil (@ClubAliP) snapped the duo on the sidewalk approaching Tom’s Restaurant, which was closed for filming. For her Instagram, ClubAli teased: “They are filming a secret seinfeld movie.”

Others on the scene noticed filming materials bearing the notation “Comedians” — hinting a future webseries episode of Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.” But other sources noted no cars; did witness multiple breaks between takes.

Which wagers smarter money on a Super Bowl commercial.

Unless you want to bet the house on a full-fledged Seinfeld reunion.

Place your bets!

UPDATED: Larry David also was at Tom’s Restaurant with Seinfeld and Alexander for their film shoot. AND it was Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s birthday on Monday. No sign of her or Michael Richards, though. Reporters and paparazzi tried to pry news out of Seinfeld when he emerged outside the diner afterward.

Alexander, meanwhile, posted this tease to Twitter Monday night:

Updated 1/30/14: Seinfeld, on morning radio with Boomer & Carton, confirmed he filmed scenes with Alexander as “George” as well as other characters — with Larry David involved but not heard — in a production we’ll see “very, very soon.”

Seinfeld covered his tracks on whether it’s a commercial, saying it isn’t, then quickly following up with “it isn’t not that, either.” What followed was an impromptu 20 questions game, which yielded the following:

Were other Seinfeld characters involved?

“Yes there were.”

Was it a short-form or a long-form filming?

“It’s a short-ish form.”

Was Larry David involved?

“He was involved.”

Was he on camera?

“No.”

Was his voice heard?

“No.”

When will we see this?

“Very, very soon.”

Was this a one-and-done or will there be more?

“I think it’s one-and-done.”

Is it longer than 60 seconds?

“Yes.”

This filming, was it all done at the table?

“No, there were other locations.”

Seinfeld’s apartment?

“No.”
