He’s back on primetime network TV with the great new military-based sitcom, Enlisted. It debuts tonight on FOX, starring Geoff Stults, Chris Lowell and Parker Young as three brothers on a Florida Army base, Fort McGee. They’re serving with the “Rear Detachment (Rear D)” unit of soldiers left behind while everyone else is deployed in combat and other active service. Co-stars include Keith David and Angelique Cabral. Comedians including Michelle Buteau and Ron Funches also make appearances!
Here’s Royce on the title cards you’ll see at the end of each Enlisted episode:
“For Enlisted, creator Kevin Biegel and I wanted to use our end cards to give a shout-out to enlisted soldiers. That turned out to be not possible, Army-permission-wise. We hope that we can do it in the future. Instead Kevin and I are giving shout-outs to our own family members who have served.”
First up is my Uncle Mike, just back from Vietnam. Thanks Uncle Mike! (Enlisted, “Pilot”)
I’ll be updating every week. And one more thing: PLEASE WATCH ENLISTED! I’ve worked on good and I’ve worked on shit, and this is the first one. We’ve gotten some really nice reviews:
- From The AV Club
- From The Huffington Post
- From HitFix
But we’re on Fridays, which is not a high viewership night. So set your DVRS or better yet throw away any semblence of social life and sit home and watch!
Mike Royce is executive producer and co-showrunner on FOX’s ENLISTED, which airs Friday nights at 9:30 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, 8:30 p.m. Central/Mountain, and other time zones when applicable.
UPDATED! As of Jan. 24, 2014, Enlisted now airs at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, and 8 p.m. Central/Mountain. Please make a note of it!
