Documentary short is a throwback to “The First Days of The Second City”

Here’s a short documentary for your Throwback Thursday needs, no matter what day it may be.

Improv Legends has put together several minutes of interview footage with founders and early participants in The Second City improv and sketch comedy company in Chicago — including the late Bernie Sahlins and the late Joyce Sloane, plus Valerie Harper, Paul Sand and Sheldon Patinkin.

Sahlins and Sloane talk about from the early days through the first 50 years of Second City shows, the cast used improvisation techniques to formulate sketch showcases, and also offered free improv shows so the audience could be part of the process.

Roll the clip.
