John Wing’s quarterfinal performance on America’s Got Talent 2013

John Wing may have made some dumb decisions earlier in his life, but he made a very smart one last night on live primetime network television.

With only a couple of minutes to impress the judges and live audiences in Radio City Music Hall (and everywhere watching on NBC), Wing picked a strong, steady closer to hammer home his prowess as a stand-up comedian. Give ’em a point of view and a catchphrase that’s not even a catchphrase, but equally as memorable. All four judges on America’s Got Talent — Howie Mandel, Mel B., Heidi Klum and Howard Stern — loved Wing’s performance and said he deserves to move on to the semifinal round. We’ll find out tonight if he does.

Befitting a comedian in his 50s who strayed from the scene for a little while, his Internet presence needs work. But you can find him for now @JohnWing5. And this week (and hopefully into September) on NBC’s America’s Got Talent.

Here’s his quarterfinal performance, which also includes some autobiographical background.

Three more words: Roll the clip!
