Jim Meskimen’s quarterfinal performance on America’s Got Talent 2013

For his quarterfinal appearance/performance on America’s Got Talent, Jim Meskimen took a page out of 2012 runner up Tom Cotter’s playbook and invited the judges and the audience into his act — asking them to help decide which jokes he’d tell.

In Meskimen’s case, as a celebrity impersonator, he put a slew of famous names on the big screen behind him and had each of the four judges pick from those names on live TV to direct his performance. As an added bonus, he began by asking judge Howie Mandel to pick a different name from history to serve as a topic for each of his voices to talk about.

The biggest reactions Meskimen received from the live audience inside Radio City Music Hall were for his impersonations of Robin Williams and Jay Leno. In case you’re scoring at home.

Also, fun fact: We learned in Meskimen’s pre-taped bio that his mom is one of America’s moms! Marion Ross, who played Mrs. Cunningham on Happy Days. Ross was there in the Radio City Music Hall audience last night, and in reverence, Howard Stern referred to her as “Mrs. C” when judging Meskimen’s performance. What did you think? Did you like him? Did you vote for him?

Roll the clip.

Could a comedian ever win America’s Got Talent? (Again?)
