by We thought we knew Jason Sudeikis had performed for his last time as a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live back in May.
But we couldn’t tell you for sure, positively, definitively, 100 percent certainly until last night — because that’s when Sudeikis finally announced he had left SNL after 10 years, two as a writer and eight as a cast member. He broke the news while appearing as a guest on Late Show with David Letterman.
Letterman eased Sudeikis into breaking the news, asking him how long of a tenure cast members have on SNL.
“A person can go as long as they want. I mean, Lorne’s been kicking butt at it for 33 out of the 38 years,” Sudeikis said. “But me, yeah, no. I’m definitely done. I’m going to leave. I’m not coming back next fall.”
Letterman: “Do they know that?”
That makes three major cast departures for SNL this summer — Bill Hader and Fred Armisen formally waved goodbye already on SNL’s 38th season finale in May.
