Sinbad to release his “Make Me Wanna Holla” special as concert film

Sinbad sees what Kevin Hart’s stand-up concert films have done at the box-office in the past two years, and he’d like to be in the new wave of stand-up specials to be special enough to be seen on the big screen.

Too soon? Too cute?

Regardless, it’s happening as sure as Sinbad titled his new special, “Make Me Wanna Holla.”

It’s his first stand-up film since 2010’s “Where U Been?” and the first for New Wave Entertainment in its new deal with NCM Fathom Events to bring stand-up onto movie screens — SINBAD: Make Me Wanna Holla is expected to hit more than 500 theaters for one night and one screening only, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013. Sinbad recorded this performance last August at The Fillmore in Detroit.

“I’m excited to be doing my first stand-up special for movie theaters,” Sinbad said in the press release. “This will be my funkiest stand-up ever. It’s time to know the dark side – the Memphis red side of Sinbad.”
