IFC renews Portlandia for seasons 4-5, recruits James Carville to “Put an Emmy on It”

IFC announced yesterday that it’ll keep Fred Armisen plenty busy for his first two years post-SNL, renewing his pre-taped sketch comedy series with Carrie Brownstein — Portlandia — for seasons four and five.

The additional 10-episode seasons will air in early 2014 and 2015.

Portlandia has celebrated sustainable local agriculture, underemployment, avian crafting, gender politics, intense bicycle messengers and so much more,” said Jennifer Caserta, president and general manager of IFC.  “We can now celebrate two more seasons.”

Portlandia already has won the Peabody Award and WGA honors. And just in time for Emmy ballots, which voters received this week, is a plea from political campaign guru James Carville in support of Portlandia. Put an Emmy on it!
