Comedy Headlines for 5/29/13

What’s making news in comedy…

  • Comedy Central has renewed Inside Amy Schumer. Amy Schumer’s sketch comedy series, currently airing on Tuesday nights, will return with a 10-episode second season in 2014.
  • Dan Harmon has confirmed that he’s in talks with Sony Pictures Television to return to the helm of Community for its fifth season. Harmon, of course, created the meta-sitcom for Sony and NBC.
  • ABC Family has its first 100-episode sitcom in Melissa & Joey. The sitcom starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence begins its third season tonight, and received orders for an additional back-half plus fourth season that’ll bring it up to 101 episodes. “One-hundred episodes is a great accomplishment for any series, and we are thrilled to give Melissa & Joey the opportunity to achieve this milestone, as they’ve delivered hundreds and hundreds of laughs over the seasons,” said Kate Juergens, executive VP of programming and development at ABC Family.
  • The Collective has split up. Founding partners Jeff Golenberg and Sam Maydew have left and started up their own management and production company, Silver Lining Entertainment, along with their management colleagues and client list. Michael Green, who began The Collective in 2005 with Golenberg and Maydew, will run The Collective’s digital studios.
