“He’s Way More Famous Than You,” by Michael Urie, to open 2013 Friars Club Comedy Film Festival

File under April Fool’s Day real news: The Friars Club Comedy Film Festival is springing forward to springtime for its fifth annual celebration of comedy on film, opening in 2013 with Michael Urie’s film, He’s Way More Famous Than You.

In Urie’s first feature as a director, written by Halley Feiffer and Ryan Spahn, He’s Way More Famous Than You takes a hard look at Hollywood and fictional versions of celebrities and themselves in the process. Feiffer stars as herself (sort of), as a woman who seemingly loses her boyfriend, agent and career, and in a bit of alcoholic desperation, tries to get it all back and more in a new film directed by “Michael Urie.” Along the way, she bumps into and/or recruits Mamie Gummer, Ralph Macchio, Jesse Eisenberg, Natasha Lyonne and Ben Stiller.

The rest of the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival will be announced later this week, with screenings from April 1-6, 2013.

In related Friars Club news, the club’s “So You Think You Can Roast?” competition ends this coming Friday with hopeful comedian roasters taking their shots at Dennis Rodman. Yes. Dennis Rodman. Over the past few weeks, contestants have had the chance to roast the likes of Padma Lakshmi and Ricky Schroder. The winner of the So You Think You Can Roast? will be invited back to the Friars Club for its annual official Friars Club Roast, which this year will honor Jack Black on April 5, 2013.
