Cecily Strong talks about her SNL audition characters

Cecily Strong already has proven herself to be the strongest rookie in this season’s cast of Saturday Night Live.

On her first late-night TV talk-show appearance, Strong told Jimmy Fallon — himself an SNL alum, whose sidekick Steve Higgins remains a longtime SNL producer — about her audition last summer for the show.

Among her audition characters: A woman on a cruise ship (not be confused with the Carnival Cruise Lines employee Strong played on last week’s episode (although Strong did perform sketch comedy on cruise ships for a while, so she has first-hand experience living that life, too!)), as well as her Weekend Update favorite, the woman you don’t want to start a conversation with at a party.
