Comedy Headlines for 1/31/13

What’s happening in the comedy world now…

  • Tonight is the series finale of 30 Rock on NBC. The show’s Tom Ceraulo writes about wrapping production with behind-the-scenes insight and photos. On Buzzfeed? On Buzzfeed! I know.
  • At CBS, meanwhile, the network ordered a ninth and final episode of How I Met Your Mother to begin this fall and end next spring. Nine seasons for a dad to tell his kids how he met their mother. That’s not a hack joke anymore. That’s just stating a fact.
  • FX is bringing back BrandX with Russell Brand as a one-hour, live talk show when it returns Feb. 7.
  • Comedy Central has renewed Kroll Show for a second season. The third episode of its debut season aired last night.
  • E! has acquired Yahoo! web series Burning Love, which pokes fun at The Bachelor series. The first season of Ken Marino’s web series will be combined and repackaged into half-hour episodes to begin airing Monday, Feb. 25, on E! His second season of Burning Love debuts on Yahoo! on Feb. 14.

More pilot orders:

  • ABC: Middle Age Rage, a single-cam from Cheryl Holliday about a middle-age woman; an untitled single-cam from Andrea Abbate based on her own life, raising her brother’s kids when he is sent to prison; and Bad Management, a single-cam by and starring Sharon Horgan, about a department store boss whose son comes back to town and turns things upside down.
