2013 Golden Globes comedy winners, highlights

In case you missed it, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler performed brilliantly as co-hosts of the 2013 Golden Globes awards ceremony. So much so that many viewers lamented their absence during the middle portion of the live broadcast on Sunday night.

But who won?

Aside from Lena Dunham and her HBO seriesĀ Girls, which trumped her older, seemingly more deserving competition, here were the comedy winners in TV and film. Per usual, when a musical is nominated in the category of “comedy or musical,” the musical nominee will win out. Remember, people, this is the Hollywood FOREIGN PRESS Association.

Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical: Les Miserables
Best Actress, Movie Comedy or Musical: Jennifer Lawrence, Silver Linings Playbook
Best Actor, Movie Comedy or Musical: Hugh Jackman, Les Miserables
Best Animated Feature Film: Brave

Best Series, TV Comedy or Musical: Girls
Best Actress, TV Comedy or Musical: Lena Dunham, Girls
Best Actor, TV Comedy or Musical: Don Cheadle, House of Lies

But back to Tina and Amy. This was their opening monologue, complete with great zingers about James Cameron, the HFPA, Boston, James Franco, porn and more.

Kristen Wiig reprised her SNL improvised Weekend Update “Garth and Kat” bit, with Will Ferrell playing the role of Fred Armisen.

And here were Tina and Amy later in the broadcast, making a little fun at Lena Dunham’s expense. Plus a solid joke that’s also serious advice to Taylor Swift, courtesy of Tina Fey: “You stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son!” And Glenn Close playing along like the master she is.
