Comedy Headlines for 1/4/13

What’s happening in the comedy world now…

  • Lionsgate announced it would release Kevin Hart’s next stand-up special as a big-screen movie, Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain, on July 4, 2013. The concert film was recorded during two sold-out Madison Square Garden shows in November as part of the New York Comedy Festival. His previous concert film, Laugh at My Pain, earned almost $8 million at the box office in 2011.
  • House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will appear in the one-hour series finale of 30 Rock on Jan. 31, 2013.
  • NBC will air an edited version of the pilot for The Farm — which the network decided not to go forward with as a spin-off for Rainn Wilson and his Dwight Schrute character on The Office — as a regular episode of The Office this year.
  • FOX will change the Sunday time slots in March for The Cleveland Show and Bob’s Burgers. Instead of airing at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, respectively, they’ll air at 8:30 and 9:30. So make a note of that.
  • SNL’s upcoming hosts will include Jennifer Lawrence with musical guest The Lumineers on Jan. 19, 2013 (already announced), followed on Jan. 26 by host Adam Levine and musical guest Kendrick Lamar.
  • Aisha Tyler will co-host the Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials special for CBS, airing Jan. 30. Tyler already is a co-host for CBS daytime talker, The Talk.
  • Word on the street has Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence co-starring in a potential sitcom to be sold into syndication by Lionsgate, much like Charlie Sheen sold FX on  last year. Stay tuned.
