Comedy headlines for 12/5/12

What’s happening in the comedy world now…

  • ABC has slated midseason debuts for new sitcoms How to Live with Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life) — April 3, 2013, starring Sarah Chalke and co-starring Jon Dore — and Family Tools, for May 1, 2013.
  • ABC also placed script orders for Will Gluck’s single-cam, Rookie, about a women who becomes a cop, and for Alison McDonald’s single-cam, She Got Problems. about a woman working for a mogul.
  • Jack Vaughn has left Comedy Central Records to take a new gig with New Wave Entertainment, where he’ll be the Senior Vice President of Production and Distribution.
  • TV One is debuting a sitcom, Belle’s, about a widower who runs a family soul food restaurant. It premieres Jan. 21, 2013. The cast: Keith David, Elise Neal, Tami Roman, Ella Joyce, Miguel Nunez and Nadja Alaya.
  • Alec Baldwin will maintain a relationship with NBC after 30 Rock wraps in January, signing a two-year development deal with Universal Television.
  • Ruthanne Secunda has left UTA for ICM Partners. Secunda’s comedy clients include Jon Cryer, Jane Krakowski, Nathan Fillion, and Tom Cavanaugh.
