Dan Harmon’s keynote address to the XOXO Festival

Dan Harmon, the creator and former showrunner of NBC’s Community — as well as co-founder of Channel 101 — delivered the keynote address in September for XOXO, an arts and technology festival in Portland, Ore. The fest celebrates independent artists using the Internet to make a living doing what they love.

Which is what Harmon has done.

And his address was, naturally, meta.

Especially since he chose to talk about not taking the Internet seriously, “because the Internet is not people,” even if it’s people who Google search for Dan Harmon along with the words “fired” and/or the name “Chevy Chase.” “You can never worship the connection more than the people you are connecting with,” he says.

Roll it.
