Comedy Headlines for 11/15/12

What’s happening in the comedy world now…

  • Comedy Bang! Bang! is ending its 10-year-run as a live stand-up showcase in Los Angeles with a big bang of its own, as founder/producer Scott Aukerman wraps up his involvement with it as a live show with IFC’s “2012 Comedy Bang! Bang! Nativity Pageant.” It’ll be held Dec. 4 in Hollywood, benefiting the LA Regional Food Bank. The lineup includes Zach Galifianakis, Aziz Ansari, Patton Oswalt, David Cross, Bob Odenkirk, Brian Posehn, Kristen Schaal, Chris Hardwick, Thomas Lennon, Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Tim Heidecker, Doug Benson, Paul F. Tompkins, Anthony Jeselnik, Chelsea Peretti, Neil Hamburger, Garfunkel & Oates, Matt Besser, Todd Glass, Jimmy Pardo and Kurt Braunohler. Tickets, $45-$75, include FREE cocktail reception from 6:30-8:00 with music by DJ Douggpound and beer and refreshments all night. Tickets available now at https://www.ticketfly.com/event/185867
  • NBC has bought into iQuit, from Austin Winsberg. It’s about five Millenials who went to U.C. Berkeley and had their young adult lives changed by the Internet.
  • Twins has a sequel in development?!? Tis true. Triplets! Book Of Mormon’s Josh Gad and Ryan Dixon are writing the script for Universal Pictures and Montecito. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito would return, with Eddie Murphy showing up as their long-lost third brother. Of course. Sure. Why not.
  • iCarly, meanwhile, is wrapping up on Nickelodeon with a one-hour series finale on Nov. 23. The series starring Miranda Cosgrove and created by Dan Schneider ranked as the network’s number-one show with kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. Nickelodeon already has two pilots in the works for spin-offs: Sam & Cat, and Gibby, while ordering a 20-episode series for Nick at Nite starring Jerry Trainor called Wendell and Vinnie.
