What’s happening in the comedy world now…

  • NBC has scheduled the midseason debut of 1600 Penn — the sitcom set inside the White House and starring Josh Gad and Bill Pullman will preview at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 17, following a 90-minute first-part season finale of The Voice. 1600 Penn will premiere officially in its regular day/time at 9:30 p.m., Jan. 10, 2013.
  • Patton Oswalt has joined HBO’s Newsroom for season two.
  • ASpecialThing Records will release Tell Your Friends! The Concert Film!as a DVD/CD set on Dec. 4. In addition to the filmed footage of Reggie Watts, Kurt Braunohler and Kristen Schaal, Christian Finnegan, host Liam McEneaney and others, the set will include bonus performances, a backstage featurette, and a “drunken commentary track” recorded during a live screening with fans.
  • The Women in Comedy Festival (WICF) is now accepting submissions through Dec. 7 for the 2013 festival. Submissions accepted in Stand Up or Storytelling Stand Up (one sustained story), Improv Comedy, Live Sketch Comedy (may contain some video or multimedia in show), Musical Comedy (scripted or unscripted), and Workshop Instruction. For more information please visit: https://www.womenincomedyfestival.com/apply
