Comedy Headlines for 11/8/12

What’s happening in comedy now…

  • Jerry Seinfeld announced a benefit show of his own for Long Island’s victims of Hurricane Sandy, with all proceeds of the show donated to local relief groups. Raised in Massapequa, Seinfeld will perform Dec. 19, at the NYCB Theatre in Westbury. Tickets go on sale Nov. 30. Colin Quinn will open for Seinfeld.
  • CAA has signed Dennis Miller. The former SNL Weekend Update anchor and stand-up comedian, who now offers conservative political opinions to FOX News and other outlets, had been repped by WME. Brillstein continues to manage Miller.
  • CBS ordered scripts for The Club, a multi-cam about the employees and golf pro at a country club. It’s being written and executive-produced by Chris Case.
  • Trent O’Donnell and Phil Lloyd, creators of Review With Myles Barlow for Australian TV, have signed with Gersh. Comedy Central has adapted their show for America as Review With Forrest MacNeil, starring Andy Daly.
  • Vice President, and still your vice president, Joe Biden apparently will make a cameo in the Nov. 15 episode of Parks and Recreation. So look forward to that scripted moment!
  • Speaking of the presidency, Roseanne Barr received more than 40,000 votes in the very real election for president. 49,508 votes at this writing, to be exact. Placing Barr in fifth-place overall in the 2012 presidential election, behind President Barack Obama’s 60.662 million votes, runner-up Mitt Romney’s 57.8 million votes on the Republican ticket, Libertarian Gary Johnson with 1.14 million, and Green Party nominee Jill Stein’s 397,000 votes.
