- When you first heard of Charlie Sheen’s 10-episode that could become 100-episode deal with FX for Anger Management, you knew that meant you could wind up seeing twice as much Charlie Sheen on your regular TV dial in a few years, what with this new series and the one he was on just a couple of years ago, Two and A Half Men. Well, brace yourself for September 2014. That’s when a new syndication deal between Debmar-Mercury and FOX takes effect, putting Anger Management into weekday rotations of FOX affiliates WNYW-WWOR/New York, KTTV-KCOP/Los Angeles, WFLD-WPWR/Chicago, KDFW-KDFI/Dallas, WTTG-WDCA/Washington DC, KRIV-KTXH/Houston, KSAZ-KUTP/Phoenix, KMSP-WFTC/Minneapolis and WOFL-WRBW/Orlando. That’s in addition to reruns on FX.
- Bryan Callen and Jay Pharoah are joining Kevin Hart, John Leguizamo and noted non-comedians Laurence Fishburne and Ice Cube in the upcoming Universal Pictures picture, Ride Along.
- FX has renewed Wilfred for a third season, allowing Elijah Wood to play fetch with Jason Gann in a dog suit for another year and 13 episodes.
- And in your Election Day comedy news…would you be surprised to learn that the late-night TV comedians have made more jokes about Mitt Romney than they have about President Barack Obama? Liberal bias? Nope. Comedy bias. The Center for Media and Public Affairs (Google them if you want to know its bias) studied the late-night talkers — Leno, Letterman, Ferguson and Fallon (but not Kimmel?) — from Aug. 27 through Oct. 3, and found that of their monologue joke targets, Romney topped the list in 148 jokes. Obama finished second with 62 jokes at his expense. Rounding out the top 10 politicians or figures in politics mocked: Arnold Schwarzenegger (39 jokes), Bill Clinton (28), Paul Ryan (20), Prince Harry (19), Clint Eastwood (18), Joe Biden (16), Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (15) and Chris Christie (14).
- Friday is the deadline for nominations in a revamped version of The Streamy Awards. After a much-panned 2010 ceremony, The Streamy Awards will return Feb. 17, 2013, at the Hollywood Palladium, and be produced by Dick Clark Productions in partnership with Tubefilter.
