“Modern Comedian” series picked up by PBS Digital Studios

Scott Moran’s documentary series about the lives and work of stand-up comedians, “Modern Comedian,” will live on with a new distribution deal with PBS Digital Studios.

Moran told The Comic’s Comic: “Yeah! It’s true. They approached me and made a great offer that works well for both of us so we sealed the deal. I’m very excited and have always loved PBS so getting to work with the PBS Digital Studios offshoot is exciting. The Digital Studios branch is just that, it’s digital programming with the same sensibilities as PBS but made for the Internet and featured on a YouTube channel. Future Modern Comedian episodes will air beginning sometime in mid-November and all the current episodes will slide over to their channel. I’m excited to see how the PBS audience reacts to them since so far it’s been pretty much the comedy world watching and I had a feeling they would accept it.”

Moran will continue to shoot, edit and produce the episodes. He said “people can expect to see the same exact shows,” just with the possibility of ads to help him earn back some money on them.

The next episode, and first for PBS Digital Studios, will feature Los Angeles group Power Violence.

In the meantime, enjoy this look back at the first eight episodes in a new outtakes clip. Roll it!

The first eight episodes included Kurt Braunohler, Lynn Shawcroft, Rory Scovel, Andy Haynes and Todd Glass.
