Adult Swim orders 10 episodes of Dan Harmon’s “Rick and Morty” animated series

Community fans, take note. Your comedy-nerd leader, Dan Harmon, will be back creating TV just for you soon enough.

Adult Swim has ordered 10 episodes of Harmon’s new animated creation, Rick and Morty. It’ll debut late nights in late 2013 or early 2014. Rick and Morty follows a brilliant inventor (Morty), his dim grandson (Rick) and the adventures they share.

NBC may have ousted Harmon from his job as creator/showrunner of Community after three seasons, but Harmon not only has new Adult Swim series in the works, but also deals in different stages of development at both CBS and FOX.

Rick and Morty‘s co-creator, Justin Roiland, previously had created shorts for Harmon’s Channel 101 called, “The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti.” If that sounds familiar, think of Doc Brown and Marty McFly from Back to the Future movies. If you go back in time, you can see Doc and Mharti in this very NSFW Channel 101 “Gatorade ad.” Roll that clip if you’re in a hurricane-free zone.
