Kyle Kinane looks at campaign ads in “30 Seconds Over Washington”

With less than three weeks before Election Day, you’re certain to feel a bit overwhelmed by political ads every time you turn on your TV. But what to make of it all?

Enter Kyle Kinane. Comedy Central has tapped the young curmudgeonly comedian to star in a new webseries, “30 Seconds Over Washington,” that takes a closer look at the outright lies, b.s., irony and occasional honesty revealed in campaign commercials. Don’t be fooled by the title, though. Each episode of “30 Seconds Over Washington” lasts for three to five minutes — the “30 Seconds” refers to the ads being discussed. That includes currently running ads, as well as classic bonkers moves by politicians in 2010, 2008 and other election seasons past.

The eight-episode webseries will see Kinane examine campaign advertising via segments such as “Crazy, Bulls#*t, Makes Sense,” “We The People,” “HAW?!?!,” and “I’d Vote For That Guy.” Fans can suggest future political TV ads to put under Kinane’s comedic microscope — or interact with the webseries via CC.com, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

The first four episodes are online now at Comedy Central’s Indecision site. Or you can watch the premiere episode right now. Roll the clip!

Mike Bridenstine and Tom Segura also wrote for this series.

Comedy Central notes that “30 Seconds Over Washington” harkens back to HBO original and interstitial programming during the 1996 elections that starred Bill Maher and Dennis Miller.
