Frank Caliendo joins ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown

That was fast.

Not much more than a month after FOX NFL Sunday replaced him with Rob Riggle, comedian Frank Caliendo has found a new home for his John Madden impersonation. Caliendo will join the cast and crew of ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown this Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012.

“As a sports fan, ESPN has always been the place to be,” Caliendo told ESPN’s Front Row blog. “This network is why I graduated (from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) with a broadcasting degree in the first place — and now I finally get to use my degree!”

Most of Caliendo’s appearances this season will be pre-taped.

“We have always admired Frank’s comedy, impressions and his NFL-centric humor,” said ESPN’s Seth Markman. “He’s been working on some new material in anticipation of this opportunity which promises to be a great addition to Countdown and to our overall NFL presentation on ESPN.”
