“We Made This Movie” provides late-night TV crossover for Arthur Meyer on David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon

New York City comedy fans — particularly those who make their second homes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatres — might have gone bonkers last night seeing that Arthur Meyer was a guest on Late Show with David Letterman.

Arthur Meyer was part of the recently late but always great sketch group Pangea 3000, has performed with Two Fun Men and directs current UCB “Maude” house sketch team Fambly. Meyer also is familiar to NBC late-night viewers as “Booner the Page” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where he’s also one of the show’s writers.

So how does a Fallon writer make it to second-guest panel position on Letterman? Some sort of detente, perhaps? A new BFF-for-a-little-while contract between the two shows and networks? Nope.

Much simpler explanation than that: Meyer stars in the new movie, We Made This Movie, which is written and directed by Rob Burnett. And Burnett is the guy in charge of Worldwide Pants, Letterman’s production company, as well as the Late Show’s long-running executive producer.

Burnett showed up first on Fallon, and quizzed Meyer on their movie experience.

Then last night, Meyer received one-on-one time with Letterman. Roll it!

The movie, We Made This Movie, can be viewed online today for free (with restrictions).
