Laughcake looks to provide you with customized comedy videos as gifts

Ever wonder how the singing telegram would be adapted by comedians in the YouTube era?

That’s where Laughcake.com comes into play.

The brainchild of twin comedians Todd and Adam Stone, Laughcake.com offers professional comedians for hire to record personalized video greetings for your friends and family. Prices run from $29.99-$89.99 and can be tailored to “toast” or “roast” the person to whom you’re sending the message.

Stone and Stone are promoting their new online venture with a live comedy tour that kicks off tonight at The People’s Improv Theater in New York City. “Laughcake Live” will head to Boston on Sept. 20 with a gig at ImprovBoston during the Boston Comedy Festival, then make planned stops in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle — while making a permanent monthly home in NYC at The PIT.

Comedians taking part initially in the Laughcake video-messaging service include Stone and Stone, Tyler Gildin, Sheba Mason, Angry Bob, Doug Smith and Brent Katz.

“We all want exposure and we’re all looking to make extra money – particularly doing something comedy-related,” co-founder Todd Stone said. “Above all, Laughcake is meant to make users laugh, but it’s also meant to allow comedians to write jokes, gain exposure, and get paid for it.”

Here is a recent video Stone and Stone made to congratulate Jennifer Aniston on her recent engagement:

And here is the service’s promotional video. Roll it.

“There are a lot of really funny comedians out there who are not household names, but can make peoplelaugh just as much,” said co-founder Adam Stone. “So we’re trying to connect this under-utilized talent with people who want to share laughs with each other.”

Could work. Will it work?
