Nominees for the 2012 Canadian Comedy Awards

The nominations came out this afternoon for the 2012 Canadian Comedy Awards, and there’s room for young and old, famous and upcoming names in this year’s talent pool being honored. From Martin Short and a few Kids in the Hall members, to Russell Peters or Samantha Bee — at least those will be the names most American readers will recognize on this list.

Three new categories are included for 2012, most notably The Phil Hartman Award, which celebrates “an individual who makes the Canadian comedy community better. Whether it be donating time and talent to charity or running an open mic, the Phil Hartman Award will be presented to someone the comedy community is both proud and thankful to call one of their own.”

The two other new categories this year are Best Podcast and Best Webseries.
