Fuse orders music-themed comedy clip show hosted by Mike E. Winfield

Music cable channel Fuse is adding to its comedy lineup with the order yesterday of 12 episodes of Off Beat, a clip series hosted by stand-up comedian Mike E. Winfield.

The series will debut later this summer. It’s already taping shows before live audiences this month in El Segundo, Calif.

Winfield will showcase a half-hour of funny and crazy music-themed videos as well as viewer-created online clips. Winfield, a Montreal New Face in 2007, has appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, Live at Gotham and The Office. FishBowl Worldwide Media is producing with Executive Producers Vin Di Bona, Bruce Gersh, Susan Levison and Beth Greenwald. If you’re thinking of a musical Tosh.0, know also that Mike Gibbons, formerly from that Comedy Central stalwart, will serve as a creative consultant here. Steve Melcher is the showrunner.

Off Beat joins Funny or Die’s Billy on the Street — starring comedian Billy Eichner quizzing strangers on the sidewalk for cash prizes (and returning for a second season this fall) — and Hoppus On Music, the talk show that features stand-up comedians as panelists and correspondents.
