Kevin Hart, next-gen Wayans brothers receive BET series

BET announced several new scripted and “semi-scripted” TV series at its upfront presentation, including a show for Kevin Hart (the supposed next big thing in comedy for more than a hot minute now) and the next generation of Wayans brothers.

Hart will star in House Husbands, a partially-scripted comedy about what it’s really like to be a Hollywood husband.

The House Husbands series is based upon a video sketch produced during last year’s BET Awards, which Hart hosted, and featured Anthony Anderson, Nick Cannon, Nelly, Jermaine Dupri and Bobby Brown. No word on who will fill out the cast of the regular series. Roll the clip.

Second Generation Wayans, meanwhile, will put Craig Wayans and Damien Dante Wayans in the spotlight. Craig is the daughter of Diedre Wayans, and he was a writer and producer on his uncle Damon’s My Wife and Kids, as was Damien, who is the son of Elvira Wayans. So they’re cousins. Their co-star George Gore II also was on My Wife and Kids. It’s all connected.

BET says: “Viewers see the good, the funny and the ugly as the young trio emerges from the long shadows of their aunts and uncles to carve out their own paths to stardom.”
