CMT orders animated “Bounty Hunters,” starring Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Lisa Lampanelli

CMT is staying in business with the “Blue Collar Comedy” crew…and Lisa Lampanelli? That’s what happened when the Country Music Television channel green-lighted a 13-episode order for the animated sitcom, Bounty Hunters, which follows Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Lampanelli as animated versions of themselves who think they’re bounty hunters.

OK. Sounds like a no-pressure gig. More power to ’em for having fun having fun making money together.

The same day, the cable channel agreed to 10 episodes of a “reality comedy” series called Trinity 911 which is like Reno: 911 but a real show featuring the real cops of Trinity, Texas. Um. OK. And they’re supposedly funny. Or make that “most colorful police department in Texas.”

From the press release:

“We’re in the midst of a bold, new era here at CMT with more record-setting series than ever before,” said Jayson Dinsmore, CMT’s EVP of programming and development. “We just closed our strongest quarter in two years, signed our first animation deal with the Blue Collar Comedy team and announced our newest slate of broad-appeal originals with some of the top producers and talent in the business. It’s a great time to be at CMT.”
