Review: Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie

If you’re at all familiar with the work of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, then there is nothing I can write that will surprise you or change your opinion on seeing Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie.

But if you’re not familiar with Tim and Eric’s comedy, then let me tell you this: Expect to see (spoiler alert!) … singing, violence, kidnapping, male genitalia, fake TV ads, horrible actors, fake PR videos, explosive diarrhea, masturbation, used toilet paper, wolves, exploding bodies, decapitations and played-out death scenes.

There will be fake-outs, intermissions and more.

Friends of Tim and Eric, including Zach Galifianakis (as a spirit guide), John C. Reilly, plus regulars such as James Quall and David Liebe Hart make appearances.

The story is about how Tim and Eric received a billion dollars to make a movie, squandered the money, then hide out as guys trying to turn around an abandoned shopping mall.

It just as easily could be described as a movie about two guys who act abnormally in normal social situations and normally in abnormal situations.

And if you’re high, you probably won’t care either way.

I think that about covers it.

P.S. Roger Ebert gave up while writing his review.

Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and has been available On Demand since late January. It opens in cinemas today.
