On the one hand, Saturday Night Live's Abby Elliott is young and attractive. Those are nice traits, we all agree. But on the other hand, pretty women in comedy focusing on the pretty part...well. Here we go again.
Abby Elliott, daughter of Chris Elliott and granddaughter of Bob Elliott of old comedy duo Bob and Ray, appears in a photo spread in the January 2012 issue of Maxim, on sale this week.

I'm gonna weigh in on "pretty women in comedy focusing on the pretty part...well. Here we go again." I think it's cool when the comedian herself is making the choices and people aren't dicking her around and offering her crap opportunities, and only expecting one thing out of her. As a woman comedian who openly gets pissed about the sexist crap I put up with, I'm not gonna say I care if a woman makes a choice to pose in sexy photos.
The crappy part is the hatering and nonsense that can come as a consequence. People actually have said Sarah Silverman slept her way to the top. Girl probably did sleep with people but wtf - she has talent. Pretty sure she talented her way there, you can't squeeze a good standup routine and talent out of a penis and into your abilities and skills.

Oh c'mon - you can do better than that. If you're going to bring up this old shit then at least talk about it. Do more than say "I don't like this, but I'm not going to say why." Especially when this is literally the first time I've seen Elliott do GQ-style photos. How many seasons does she have to be on SNL before she can do her next shoot without being accused of focusing on her looks?

If there's an artist, comedian, writer, actor I enjoy, I'm always delighted when some magazine features hot pics of 'em. It's the best. It's like you get to take the relationship with someone you enjoy for their work to the next level.
Also, if you love someone for their work, then when you see their body, it's extra sexy! Cuz you're attracted to their personality.
