by How was your Thanksgiving weekend? Good? Good. Mike Birbiglia entered his holiday season knowing that he’ll spend at least the first half of 2012 on the road touring his latest one-man show, “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend.”
Birbiglia workshopped the show — which covers his relationships with women, his attitude toward marriage and a fateful accident (different from what happened to him in Sleepwalk With Me, but still compelling and harrowing) — throughout 2010 and played to rave reviews in New York City earlier this spring and summer. Announcing the first 20 dates of his tour, Birbiglia wrote:
“Tickets to my show make great gifts for Christmas, Hanukah and Kwanzaa. Bring your girlfriend, boyfriend, or difficult teen, the one who says you never get her anything. Think of it as a gift grenade, just waiting to detonate in the lap of a loved one. I mean that in the least violent way possible.”
