In other news from before Memorial Day Weekend…

New052611lampanellicheck1 In case you missed it because you were holiday weekending or I was planning and executing a move of The Comic's Comic HQ (now conveniently located in the heart of New York City's comedian's comedians: Astoria, Queens), here are some things that happened in the world of comedy last week.

And what did Lisa Lampanelli do to gay men this time that made her have to pay up big time?

Let's recap the rest of the comedy news…

  • Comedy Central will have an online presence at this year's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in what has traditionally become the muddiest, hippiest part of Tennessee each June. ComedyCentral.com gains exclusive rights to distribute stand-up performances from the fest, happening from June 9-12, 2011, including a three-hour show on the final night, "Comedy Central Live @ The Bonnaroo Comedy Theater" at https://www.comedycentral.com/bonnaroo.
  • Spike TV announced the network would reward Jim Carrey with "The Funniest M.F. Award" at this year‚Äôs ‚ÄúGuys Choice‚Äù bash. Previous winners include Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and most recently, Chris Rock. The telecast tapes June 4 and airs June 10 on Spike at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific.
  • Lisa Lampanelli had the last laugh on the Westboro Baptist Church, which recently sent its membership out to protest and picket her show earlier this month in Topeka, Kan. Lampanelli pledged to donate $1,000 to the Gay Men's Health Crisis for each protestor who showed up to hold "God Hates Fags" signs or whatever hate speech they're about this time, and then rounded up the number to $50,000.
  • The UCB recently spent a few minutes with MAD Magazine's Al Jaffee. It's part of the UCB series, "A Few Minutes With Someone Funnier Than You." Fold-in fun!
