Fall TV previews 2011: Sneak a peek at NBC’s “Whitney” pilot

Nbc_whitneyNBC will debut new sitcom, Whitney, at 9:30 p.m. Thursdays (8:30 p.m. Central/Mountain) after The Office in Fall 2011. This means moving Parks and Recreation back to 8:30 p.m. and pushing 30 Rock to midseason due to Tina Fey's pregnancy.

The pilot for Whitney was created and written by Whitney Cummings, who also stars in it alongside fellow stand-up comedian Chris D'Elia as a self-described "happily unmarried couple." When NBC made the series order last week, both Cummings and D'Elia told me a little bit about their parts on the sitcom.

Here's what Whitney had to say about Whitney to the NBC cameras:

And now watch the full trailer and individual clips for the pilot episode…

In this scene, it's interesting to watch the chemistry between Cummings and D'Elia, as they clearly are enjoying delivering barbs at each other.

  1. does this show have a laugh track? Is that even legal anymore?
Its hard to take this blog seriously as a legitimate comedy club when it gives so much space and attention to this horribly unfunny show and the horribly unfunny “comedians” in it.

  2. word on the internet is early test screenings did not go so well.
also of note NBC put up strict disclaimers on the message boards for this show about posting negative things. I also can not log into to post any comments good or bad.
the good news is, it feels like the 90s again when a comic with only 5 years of actual stand up under their belt can get a sitcom. That should be good news guys.

  4. How can anyone be considered a “hater” after watching those clips ? These are the same jokes that would be found in According to Jim a universally disliked show. We live in an age where there are revolutionary sitcoms like Louie, Modern Family, and Parks and Recreation yet here we are with a bad 90’s throwback to the type of sitcoms that nearly killed the genre.
