Did you receive a 2010 Rooftop Comedy Award nomination? Should you have?

Rooftop Comedy announced its slate of nominees for its annual awards, to be handed out the week of June 14 at the site's Aspen Comedy Festival.

NomineeButton And I got one! No, that's not why I'm writing this. Especially since I doubt I'll win seeing as I don't have a longstanding business relationship with Rooftop. But awards are awards, and it truly is an honor to be recognized. You know that if you're on this list, and perhaps even more so if you're not. So let's see who they're recognizing!

2010 Rooftop Comedy Awards

The Roofie: Goes to one comedian who stands out as an innovative performer and writer, with a unique voice and overwhelming commitment to the stand-up comedy stage. Magicians and puppet guys are not eligible.

Nominees: W. Kamau Bell, Christian Finnegan, Todd Glass, Kyle Grooms, Chris Hardwick, Kathleen Madigan, Tig Notaro

The Golden Shingle: Awarded to the most outstanding rising stand-up star.

Nominees: Bob Biggerstaff, Marina Franklin, Moshe Kasher, Alex Koll, John Ramsey, Ryan Singer

Good thing Koll, a Rooftop employee, got nominated. Otherwise that'd be an even more awkward day around the office.

The Golden Brick: Awarded to the most hilarious rising comedic filmmaker.

Nominees: Beef & Sage, Big Dog Eat Child, Big Game Hunters, Tim Harmston, John Ramsey

The Silver Nails: Awarded to up-and-coming comics working at Rooftop's partner clubs, with eight winners chosen by the site's staff and put on a digital EP to be released June 1.

Comics' Comic: Awarded to a working comic who consistently makes other comics laugh.

Nominees: Chad Daniels, Todd Glass, Robert Hawkins, Tommy Johnagin, Mary Mack

I didn't sponsor this award, btw, so don't blame me if you were not nominated.

Best Club for Emerging Talent: Nominated by comics, this award goes to the comedy club that best supports up-and-coming comedians.

Nominees: Acme Comedy Club (Minneapolis, MN), Cap City Comedy Club (Austin, TX), Comix (NYC, NY), Go Bananas (Cincinnati, OH), The Comedy Studio (Cambridge, MA)

Best Club to Work: Nominated by comics and awarded to the club that Rooftop Comedy comics most like working.

Nominees: Acme Comedy Club (Minneapolis, MN) Cap City Comedy Club (Austin, TX), Comix (NYC, NY), Go Bananas (Cincinnati, OH), Punch Line Comedy Club (San Francisco, CA)

Since the nominees here are almost exactly the same as the clubs for "emerging talent," that must mean that comedians prefer getting paid in cash or check by Punch Line than in beer and Chinese food by Rick Jenkins?!

Clubs' Comic: Awarded by Rooftop Comedy's club network to a single comic with whom they have most enjoyed working with and watching perform over the past year.

Nominees: Matt Bearden, Anthony Jeselnik, Tommy Johnagin, Drew Michael, Alex Stone

Best Online Comedy Forum: Awarded by the Rooftop Comedy Academy to the best online comedy forum.

Nominees: Blow up the Moon, Chuckle Monkey, MySpace Comedy Forum, Road Comics, A Special Thing

Who are the cadets and officers in this Academy?

Best Online Comedy Industry Publication: Awarded by the Rooftop Comedy Academy to the best online comedy publication.

Nominees: The Apiary, Comedy Central Insider, The Comic's Comic, Dead Frog, Punchline Magazine, Shecky Magazine

Best Sketch Comedy Web Series: Awarded by the Rooftop Comedy Academy to the best and funniest on-going comedy web show or series.

Nominees: Between two Ferns with Zach Galifianikis, Children's Hospital, The Ed Hardy Boyz, Elevator to: Space, Jake and Amir, The Onion News Network, Star-ving!

Funniest Podcast: Awarded by the Rooftop Comedy Academy to the podcast that most consistently cracks us up.

Nominees: Comedy Death-Ray Radio, Jordan, Jesse GO!, The Nerdist, Never Not Funny, Siskel and Negro, WTF with Marc Maron

Funniest Comic on Twitter: Awarded online to the funniest comics on Twitter. Vote now through May 18th 6pm PST. Tweet your favorite comic's name from the list below to @RooftopComedy to cast your vote!

Tompkins (@PFTompkins), Aziz Ansari (@azizansari), Doug Benson (@DougBenson), Rob Huebel (@robhuebel), Eugene Mirman (@eugenemirman), Natasha Leggero (@natashaleggero), Michael Ian Black (@michaelianblack), Lizz Winstead (@lizzwinstead), Rob Delaney (@robdelaney), Paul Scheer (@paulscheer)

No idea how they came up with this list, nor why it's not in alphabetical order.

Viewers' Choice: 2010 Clip of the Year: Selected on RooftopComedy.com, viewers award their favorite clip! Vote for your favorite clip to take the title of "Clip of the Year"! Submit your vote from Wednesday, May 19th at 10am PST through Monday, May 24th at 6pm PST on the Rooftop Comedy blog!

Nominees: Heaven and Hell, Moshe Kasher; How to Get High without Drugs, Ryan Singer; Eyecare for Pets, Jackie Kashian; Online Shopping, Shane Mauss; How to Fix the Economy, W Kamau Bell; Abercrombie and Fitch, Chris Hardwick; 1999, Alex Koll; Bathroom Superhero, Robert Hawkins; Watching Kids at the Pool, Kyle Kinane; The Ugly Friend, Natasha Leggero; Cat Marketing Strategies, Lachlan Patterson; Taco Bell is Misleading, Matt Braunger

Rooftop also will honor comedians at the Aspen festival with a "Best of the Fest" nod, as well as host the national finals of its "National College Comedy Competition."
