Scenes from the line outside Gotham, 8 hours before auditions for NBC’s Last Comic Standing

After catching a couple of comedy shows and a comedy-community birthday party, I swung by Gotham Comedy Club at 1 a.m. to see what kind of line had formed outside for the "open call" auditions for NBC's Last Comic Standing, season 7. Turns out the line, which had only a handful the first time I checked it two nights earlier, had snaked back and forth along the sidewalk and along one lane of West 23rd Street, with the addition of multiple portable toilets. From the anecdotal evidence, half of this line had formed just since noon Saturday.

Auditions begin Sunday morning for the general public, although I learned that several professional stand-up comedians actually did their initial auditions on Saturday and received callbacks for Sunday night's showcase. There's also a callback showcase on Monday night. Anyhow. Would you like to see the "slice of life" outside of Gotham earlier this evening? Roll the clip!
