What would God’s Pottery do? Write a book!

More than a few of you may have been surprised last year to see NBC's Last Comic Standing (not just because it was still on, which it wasn't this summer) and find a comedy duo singing songs about Christ in a stand-up competition. Behold the power of God's Pottery. In the year since they got their break on primetime network TV, the comedians known onstage as Jeremiah Smallchild and Gideon Lamb have continued to perform at clubs and festivals, and they've also just written a book together, What Would God's Pottery Do? It's subtitled: "The ultimate guide to surviving your teens and/or being successful." Of course, thank God!

Let them explain it to you, Internet reader:

The book is out Tuesday:

They're going to celebrate the book release with a show Tuesday at Comix in NYC with guests Janeane Garofalo, Jessi Klein and Joe Mande, followed by a club tour with stops this week: Philadelphia (The Troc); Chapel Hill, N.C. (Nightlight); Washington, D.C. (DC9), and other dates in Boston; Seattle; Bellingham, Wash.; and Portland, Ore.

The duo have put together a few more videos to help promote their book and their cause, and got folks like Mike Birbiglia to lend a hand. See Birbiglia get Christ'd…after the jump!

Here are Jeremiah and Gideon showing Mike Birbiglia how he can make his green room more Christ-like. Kittens?
