Kyle Cease’s new “Comedy Bootcamp” video

Kyle Cease and his brother, Kevin, have refashioned the video trailer to hype their "Comedy Bootcamp" based upon our previous suggestions, comments, complaints and worries about what's really going on at the Comedy Bootcamp (you no longer can see the original video unless you have such privileges). This video now focuses on what the bootcamp can do for you, the comedian, with more insight from agents, managers, industry folk and fellow comedians — including Bret Ernst, Brian Scolaro and Chris Porter. With all of the appearances by people in the industry, you certainly would think that this class gives you more access to people you'd want access to than other stand-up comedy classes. What are your thoughts? The next bootcamp is scheduled for October:

  1. I have never cared for classes or courses where they tell you “How to be a comic”. There are some things that just can’t be taught, they have to be experienced. This course probably costs hundreds of dollars, and despite whatever Kyle says about “wanting to help people” it’s bullshit if the man is profiting off of people who don’t know any better.
The best teacher is always your own experience; living vicariously through someone else will never help your career.

  2. I was a student at the camp. It was incredible. I learned a lot, I go up a lot. Kyle and 2 other comics have offered me spots at places.
It’s so funny that the old video shows Kyle helping us visualize doing well, then we actually do well so a couple of us tear up and you wrote “is this a cult?”
I agree and Kyle said many many times that the best teacher is your experience, that’s why this session was great because we were working on our acts 12 hours a day and then we had really great sets that were taped by a full production crew…..
in fact, here is a great set from one of the comics that night, being brought up by a headliner, brought off by another one and the quality is great.

I don’t know man, I had a blast. I also got way better, way faster.
Also the contacts I made were incredible.

  3. Okay, I’m going to say what everyone is thinking: You mean I can pay this guy to be as good at comedy as Kyle Cease?
I wish he would Kyle Cease doing standup.
Thank you. Funny ’cause it’s true.

  4. why are they so coy about revealing how much it costs .
is it hundreds ? thousands ?
if you’ve been on the course let us know !

  5. I don’t think anyone was being coy about anything. You contact them and they tell you. I hope they don’t mind me saying the price…
The asking price at this last one (although I have no clue what they will ask at the next one) was $595.00 I heard a couple people got in for $495.
We got literally around 50 hours of work and speakers in, so it came down to about 10 or 11 bucks an hour. The whole thing was taped.
When you add in the factor of making around 20 new contacts, it being in a real club, the 3 cameras shooting us and taping our sets, I thought it was a great deal and offered way more then other classes I have taken.
On the last day, Kyle broke us into groups of 4 and assigned us each with a different headliner. Then each hour, he rotated the groups, so we always got a new comic giving us advice, with their different take. I got a ton of new stuff with some more depth.
