The 2008 NYC Underground Comedy Festival

The 2008 edition of New York City’s Underground Comedy Festival begins tonight and continues through Oct. 12 in several venues around Manhattan.

Highlights on Sunday include a private event, Comedy Fights Cancer, for patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering in the afternoon, the highly self-important New York’s Funniest Reporter show at Gotham Comedy Club on Sunday night (featuring defending champion The Comic’s Comic and headlined by Adam Ferrara). Among other shows of interest:
Oct. 8 — Auditions for Late Show with David Letterman at Gotham; the fifth Emerging Comics Contest, featuring Matt Daly, Joe Fernandes, Warren B. Hall, Jamie Lee, Dave Lester, Phil
Mazo, Ed Murray, Reese Waters, Tim Warner and Angel Yau, at Laugh Lounge; and ventriloquist Taylor Mason delivering family-friendly comedy at Ha!
Oct. 8-9 — The Headblade Comedy Tour, featuring bald-headed comedy from Alzono Bodden, John Henton, Robert Kelly, Charlie Viracola and Scott Channon, at Gotham.
