Fox experiences Wendy Williams this summer

The Wendy Williams Experience moves from radio to TV this summer with a six-week deal on FOX. Stations in New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas and Detroit will offer the show, starting July 14, as an hourly weekday talk show.

She’s heard weekdays from 2-7 p.m. on the air on WBLS-FM (107.5), and previously had her own TV show on VH1. The New York Daily News talked to Williams this week about her latest opportunity, but failed to mention that Williams already has plenty of live experience from her weekly comedy showcase at Carolines.

The New Wendy Williams Experience has been holding court at Carolines on late Wednesdays for going on five years, and Williams was in quite the jubilant mood last night. She plugged her upcoming TV gig and gave shout-outs to her crew and her fans for sticking with her as she has moved from station to station over the years. "Without my base, I can’t do the rest," she said last night. Of her TV show, she said she’ll be on "five days a week, telling it like it is…I’ll be right up there with Oprah, Ellen, Tyra and all the rest!" She also recommended the nachos at Carolines. In case you’re curious about such things. After about 15 minutes, she started the official comedy proceedings last night by welcoming Brooklyn Mike to the stage, who hosted and welcomed D’Lai, Michael Colyar, Joe Show, Shorty, Vanessa Fraction and Howie Bell. Colyar is headlining at Carolines tonight-Sunday (the late shows) and teased the audience with a couple of long pun jokes and a poem about Obama. Shorty impressed with his energy. And I remembered hearing Fraction’s explicit material earlier this year on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam.
