Ochi’s Lounge: Now Monday-Thursday

Ochi’s Lounge, the basement venue of Comix, had its final weekend shows this past weekend, with a new schedule of shows running Mondays-Thursdays only. I don’t have the full story yet, but cannot say that this news exactly surprises me. Fridays and Saturdays are the big nights for the main showroom, and having those crowds try to squeeze through the Ochi’s free audiences to get to and from the bathrooms made for some inconveniences on both sets of audiences. Not that that’s the reason for the schedule shuffle. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it played a role.

At any rate, the lineup for April in Ochi’s Lounge is online here. Here is a brief summary…

Mondays (starting April 7): Ochi’s Motel (weekly workouts booked and hosted by Sean Donnelly & Joe Powers)

Tuesdays (starting April 8): Early show at 7:30 p.m. rotates between Smart & Dirty (hosted by Eric I and Rob O’Reilly) and Little Ethnic Girls & Friends (hosted by Helen Hong and Maria Shehata). Late show at 9:30 p.m. is Drink at Work (moved from Saturdays).

Wednesdays (ongoing): First Wednesdays it’s Andres du Bouchet Has Been Expecting You, with special guests. Third Wednesdays belong to Liam McEneneany’s Writings With Music (jazzy!). The other Wednesdays get a Faux Show early (7:30 p.m.) with Shawn Pearlman and Adam Newman, followed by the Slumber Party (hosted by Brooke Van Poppelen, Joselyn Hughes and Maggie Champagne).

Thursdays (ongoing): The Friday shows move over to Thursdays, with Family Hour with Auntie Sara slated to start at 7:30 p.m., followed by The Back Room at 9 p.m.
